Real Casa de la Moneda de sevilla is located in a block between "la puerta de jerez" and "Avenida de la constitución" and " paseo de colón. it was built in 1532 by Felipe II and was the place where gold and silver wich came from the indies were melted and were tuned into coins with the porpuse of financing the costs of the kingdom.
Between 1500 and 1717 came a big quantity of these metals to seville because the city had the exclusive monopoly on goods coming from the New World. this activity came to employ more than 200 people who were in charge of feeding the furnaces and have operated the smelter.
